JAG-K Awarded $3,500 from Taco Bell Foundation
LOCAL ORGANIZATION AWARDED $3,500 TO HELP MORE KANSAS YOUNG PEOPLE FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS
TOPEKA (April 23, 2019) – Jobs for America’s Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) received a $3,500.00 grant provided by the Taco Bell Foundation to support more than 300 youth from across the state of Kansas. The funding went towards the annual Career Development Conference (CDC). The CDC allows our top students to showcase the skills they have been perfecting in the classroom by participating in competitive events.
The CDC for High School programs was held in Salina, Kansas on Wednesday, April 17 and featured competitions in Math, Public Speaking, Project Based Learning, Employability, Mapping My Future, and Students for Service. Post-secondary institutions and potential employers provided a Career Browsing Fair for the students. Middle School students visited Salina on Thursday, April 18 for a day of competition and team building activities.
JAG-K is one of more than 350 youth-serving organizations that will receive a portion of the $5 million in grants being presented by the Taco Bell Foundation’s philanthropic arm this year. The awarded grants are an example of the Taco Bell Foundation’s goal to empower young people to channel their passions and go on to achieve their dreams.
“Young people have always been the heart and soul of our brand,” said Frank Tucker, Chief People Officer at Taco Bell and President of the Taco Bell Foundation. “Expanding our impact in this community is one of the best ways we can support the passions of young people and create opportunities that help them unlock and reach their potential.”
